What's new, Royal duck pt2.

March 22, 2024

Hello lovelies,

I will leave for Japan tomorrow and I AM SO EXCITED. The last time I visited Japan was in 2025. That's eons ago. And this time I will travel with my partner and a friend and we are not doing shopping only, like the last time, but we will also do a lot of sightseeing and visiting places I have never been before (Nara, Arashiyama, etc).

But before that, I wanted to give a small "brand" update.

So, what's new?

  • I have a portfolio! It took only a few minutes as I applied for Connichi to make but it didn't turn out half bad.

  •  Bye bye Etsy and Patreon. I ditched the sites for Ko-fi and it works much better for me.

  • New Designs!

I made a few new designs the past couple of months and I am particularly proud of one:

The card captor Sakura brooch. It is worked in gold embroidery, the shiny gold bouillon is real gold, and has sequins as wings and beads made with a vermicelli stitch. I used this term loosely as it's more from tambour embroidery but I don't really know if it has its own name in bead embroidery. It's not an orderly stitched and used to describe the art of just going around in a more "messy" fashion. If anyone knows, please tell me!

It was actually a pretty pain in the butt to make, not sure if I have the nerves to do another in the near future.

The progressive flag was a bit stressfull too because the heart was so small. I will definitely only sell them in a bigger version.

For christmas I made a cute nordic styled decoration and it turned out super cute. I will try and make more for this year's christmas. And maybe fill in the gaps? I don't know yet.

No Royal Duck sortiment would be complete with the Ghibli inspired collection:

And the dust sprites of course...

And of course, one of my favourites, the dripping heart. I love the symbolism in it and I also like to play with the colours. This is the pastel coloured one as the dark blue and purple I normally use, are not that visible against the black.

I hope you love them as much as I do,

All the best,

Auris Lothol
