Italy Day 4 - Museums, museums, and good food

July 10, 2026

Hello lovelies,

and here is part 2 of the Italian diaries with Day 4. It was already a picture heavy post so I decided to do Day 5+6 in a separate post as especially day 5 would be picture heavy again with us going to the Uffizi.

Day 4

During the night a big mosquito bit me. Not once, not twice, but three times on my face. It was not itchy but it was red and a bit swollen. Luckily it was nothing a bit of makeup couldn't fix. In the morning we found the devil's fly perched on my side of the headboard and killed it. It was full with my delicious blood. Yuck.

But that did not dampen my mood as we were visiting Palazzo Pitti that day. The outer structure is like a fortified castle, it doesn't look inviting at all. But once you enter, you are in a completely different world.

We still had our Florence card that we used for the entry. The regular price would have been 16€ per person. We were just in time for a tour through the royal apartments.

The apartments were stunning. It's exactly how I would love my flat to look like too. I also thought it was very interesting that all rooms had a different colour scheme. The Queen's bedroom was blue and the King's bedroom was yellow, the salon was red but the queen's salon was also yellow.

Next was the museum we came for, the museum of costume and fashion. Last time we visited in February of 2020 they had the permanent exhibition (Eleonora and Cosimo I) and a shoe exhibition and I was so sad because I wanted to see the dresses. But this time, we finally saw the dresses we wanted to see. Look at those beauties:

I didn't take a lot of pictures because I concentrated on filming the exhibition. The full video can be seen on youtube:

We quickly went through the rest of the other museums as we had seen it already and were famished and had our minds full with food and not the heart to look at another painting.

One of my three favourite saints: Saint Agat(h)a, alongside with Saint Appolinia, depicted with a tooth and Saint Lucia, depicted with her eyes. lol

We crossed ponte vecchio to get to the other side in search for a restaurant. Then we randomly chose one that was medium priced and looked nice and we were so lucky, because the food was amazing. It was the best food from our whole trip.

That was my primi! It was so much and so good. I just love seafood.

Then...pasta with even more seafood. And the noodles were 100% handmade. They were delicious and I almost licked my plate clean if it weren't for society.

Hias had a vegan noodle dish and a vegan dessert and I also got a dessert. You can imagine how stuffed I was after all this good food.

I can't seem to recall the name of the dessert.

Afterwards we rolled into the Museo di Palazzo Vecchio. Last time we did not enter because there were some works being done. This time they still had some works but as we had the Florence card we decided to enter anyway. And it was stunning! But very confusing paths and doors.

You may not have realized this but I am a big fan of beautiful ceilings.

And that...was not the last museum. We had a quick cannoli snack and then went to the Palazzo Medici Riccardi where we finally saw one of Hias's favourite paintings.

I'm pretty sure you know exactly why he is in love with the time? It's fancy and colourful Italian Renaissance clothing.

The museum herself was not that big, at least you were not allowed to go into a lot of room.

But I'm glad we could see the most beautiful room in the house. Just look at the fresco.

I'm not sure why the wand was made out of glass because my clumsy butt would drop it immediately after holding it for a second but the work is elaborate and so pretty. I actually want one.

The building also had a few beautiful ceilings:

But that was really the last museum we went to. We just grabbed some snacks for dinner at the local supermarket and went back to our hotel. Our feet were dead but our minds were full and that was a great day

I wore my Leur Getter cat dress again but with lighter colours instead of black. It was the only day during all of my Italy stay that I did not get a compliment. haha. I was already used to that (albeit I never get compliments in Vienna).
