    Hello lovelies,

summer is my favourite season and every cold winter I yearn for a hot day. I live in a very old flat and temperatures rarely go over 20C°. I only survive because I wrap myself into two blankets and look and live like a burrito.
Nearly all of my clothes are made for summer and this dress is no different.

I found the fabric in local Viennese store called Textil Müller, most of the time they offer fabrics which are one of a kind and thus are not restocked, therefore I had to buy a few meters.

I really liked the floral border and actually intended to only make a skirt.

I used the pattern from a dress I already made. It is from Otome no sewing book number 1. I cut it two time, lining and fabric.
The zip was planned to go on the left side of the garment, therefore the dress was closed on all sides except for this.
I then did the skirt, pleated it and fixed it in small running stitches.

Afterwards I mounted it on my sewing doll but didn't really like how the top looked. The pleats and skirt part were okay and were not changed.

I cut away all the shoulder part and instead made straps to form a neck holder top.

This made it look much more open and ready for a hot summer.
I sewed the lining to the lining skirt, the fabric to the fabric skirt, cut away all the excess sewing allowance because it was very visible, added a zip and it was done.

    All the best,

    Hello lovelies,

I was at a wedding last weekend and for that occasion I made myself a cute dress. The theme was blue and silver and I really have no blue or silver dress. What a shock. Luckily I found an amazing fabric at my local fabric store.

    My pattern looked like this:
The pattern on the left is for the back.

As for the skirt part I almost never do a paper pattern but draw directly on the fabric, cut, and then hope for the best.

I pinned everything together and checked the fit.
Afterwards I sewed in the lining and checked the fit again. The bottom pictures are already close to what it will look like afterwards. The pins hold the outer fabric and the inner lining in place.

Of course I also had to try it on. Remember the pins? Yes, ouch.

I made the lining too short infront (if you look closely on the first pictures of this batch you'll see the lighter stripe ending at boob height) and therefore added some more lining.

I didn't want to make it visible from the outside and therefore I couldn't sew it the standard way because the double fold whould have been visible. But this method worked pretty well for me, although it doesn't look that nice from the inside. But no one will see the inside.

I used blue thread to sew everything. Again it looks good from the outside.

I forgot to take pictures of the seam which was the step before adding the zip. Oh well, never mind. I sewed in the zip but wasn't able to align both sides evenly. Booh.
But I finished the dress at this part.
    Well, almost.
I decided to add a cute bow at the back.

I wore the dress for the wedding and it was a big hit. My make-up reminded me a bit of wonder woman, which was (un)intentional.

    All the best,

    Hello lovelies,

Christmas is coming up soon and as much as I like receiving presents, I am super bad at choosing presents for my friends and family.

I decided to sew my mother a cute bolero with the fabric I am currently using to sew myself a lolita dress.

I am very sorry for the weird light. Sewing at night with not enough light makes the pictures so orange-y.

The pattern I used is similar to the lolita bolero I did a while ago. See here
The pattern consisted of four parts, the long frills part is not shown here. Left top is the front part, left right on the grain is the back part and the one beneath is the sleeve part.

Front, back and frills pinned together looked like that. I also did these parts first, the sleeves were last.

Sewing the frills was a pain in the butt, let me tell you that. Also doing frills and fiddling with them so they look the same on both sides is not my favourite work.

This is the finished work. I tried not to make it too frilly for my mum. It may be also too big for her because I could only guess.

    Time: about 10h
Cost: about 3€ for the fabric
    Satisfaction: 4/5

    All the best,

    Aurîs Lothol

    Hello lovelies,

I didn't forget about my Peignoir project! I was just so busy with my moving and then find space in the much too small room that I couldn't sew at all. But then yesterday I got my new sewing feet and decided to continue the peignoir today. That, and because my room is still such a damn mess that I needed something to calm myself down...
Look at them! I got them very cheap on ebay and they work perfectly. I used the gathering and the 1/8 hemmer foot.

This cutey is the 1/8 hemmer...you get a lovely and very thin seam:

The seam is a bit wobbly because I was very, very sloppy with cutting the fabric...

The next thing I did was sewing on the sleeves.

I had a hard time taking a picture of my arm. The sleeve goes under my elbow and is super puffy. Although the picture really doesn't give it credit.

Then, with the gathering foot, I attached my frills to the peignoir, without ruffling it first! Do you even know how much time and nerves I saved with this cute babe??

And this is where I stop for today...
I have to cut out new frills...the three meter frills were eaten by this peignoir already...
then sew the cuffs, do something with the the front...and I am finished.. XD

See another detail shot of the ruffs :3

and now my bed and university tomorrow are calling...!
    Good night!
There will be a peignoir tutorial at the end of the sessions :3
