Bobbin Lace
Hi lovelies,
to document my bobbin lace journey I decided to make my own dedicated page for it as I don't want to update the blog regularly with my meagre progress.
2019
In October 2019 I went to my first bobbin lace class and I was hooked. Something about the crossing, twisting hypnotized me. I only managed to go to 2-3 classes though before Covid hit and I took a long covid break, with almost no work going into the lace.
2022
I was back in 2022 for my class and then found out that there were so many online classes I could have attended. Wow. :( In hindsight it was really stupid because in these two years I did almost nothing and had to start from almost 0 again in 2022. At least I still knew the basic stitches.
2023
2024
In 2024 I was a bit discouraged by my lack of progress. My lace teacher taught once a month and when I had no time on that day, I couldn't attend class. Therefore, I decided to write my local bobbin lace class for a private teacher and found my current teacher. We started with various techniques like Bedfordshire and Schneeberger and continued with my most boring technique, Torchon. I learned how to add Gimps and then I started an online class doing Bucks point lace with the Lace Museum of california and I was hooked. The fine bucks point was a refreshing way to do lace compared to Torchon.
