    Hi lovelies,

after my Steampunk costume debacle I started a new one from scratch. It is all in white now with brown decoration and I think it is much better than the other black one I had.
It is more of a ball gown or evening gown than a day dress but I was told to just do a victorian costume and we didn't specify what exactly, so I think it is okay.

I got some white satin left from my Hungary cosplay and it was enough for this costume, as I only made the overdress out of white satin. The top is made out of white fake leather.

The skirt is worn over a small butt cushion ( I forgot the name) and cut evenly. It was a bit of a mess to get the skirt even but it worked out. I still have to sew on the frills. The picture is too blurry for making out details but the frills were hand pleated and sewn. I had to do it because the sewing machine hates this fabric. But all in all it took up too much time.

This is the close-up of the small pleats. I still have to secure them tightly, as they still wander about .

For the top, instead of pearls like in the Hungary cosplay, I used small belt like decoration.
I made them myself too. Right is the finished one and left is without the seams yet.

And this is how it looked like with their counterparts. i think it looks good and I liked the design.

And this is how it looks like with the rest of the top sewn on.

And a close up. I used a bigger stitch for the leather parts because they are double-layered.

Lucky for me, I still have two full days and a few hours after work to finish the costume. And I still have to add a lot of decoration to make it more steampunk-y.

    Have a nice weekend,

    Hi lovelies,

a while ago I shared pictures on the steampunk dress I am currently doing. The only problem is, that I assembled all the pieces and sewed them together and I am absolutely dissatisfied by the outcome. I thought this dress with this particular fabric was a good idea but it wasn't.
So back to zero, I guess.

The back looks super good though. The pattern even matches the sides. There are still pins in the lower back because I was not finished and I wanted to see how it looks like on my doll...

It matches even better on the other side! But the light was too bad for it.

The front is all wobbly because I measured everything with a corset underneath and I can't lace my sewing doll, which is a real shame.
Plus, it is open on the side and should be closed there too but nay, I didn't have time to pin it properly.
I warned you. It really looks all wrinkled up because I didn't bother to pin the sides but whatever. I was already so fed up with everything...

    So, what now.
For my 1860s Hungarian wedding dress I still have some white satin fabric left. Also I have got white and a kind of reddish-brown hard leather. And with these I wanted to create something new, maybe only victorial inspired but very steampunk-y.

    Wish me luck for that!,

    Hi lolives,

during winter time I tend to get more lazy and just want to either sleep or lay on the couch eating Lebkuchen and petting my cats.
But I have an urgent project coming on with a deadline on the 8th of December so I can't really lazy around. I just nap a few times after any accomplishment :D!
The new project will be a steampunk victorian walking dress. I used a burda pattern for the sleeve and a pattern from a Gosu Rori mixed with Jane Arnold's patterns of fashion 2 for the other pieces.

My cat always likes to sit on "new things" laying on the floor. I bring fabric, she sits on it. I spread my pattern books on the floor, she sits on it.

But to be honest, I can't even be mad at her. But she is a super fluffy, little rascal.

As a matter of fact, I did finish my patterns, even though she played with my pen and my rulers all the time.

And this is it. I know it looks super weird but it fits really well. Never thought it would...
The fabric is black fake leather with a geometric pattern punched into it. It looks really good and I hope it also looks good when I am done.

There is no perfect Steampunk outfit without the weapons. So I got myself a fairly cheap (for Austrian standards, super expensive for not western Europeans and Americans =_=) children's toy weapon.
I used sandpaper to roughen up the surface and then used black gesso to prime it. I think there are about 5 layers of gesso on it.

I worked betther than I thought and it doesn't look like plastic anymore. So that is a really big plus.
The next step would be to paint it with black and bronze.

    All the best,

    Aurîs☆

    Hello lovelies,

I decided to order two corsets a few days ago because I desperately wanted to start with my waist training. (More information please visit Lucy's corsetery.Go and check it out. It just perfect. I could not explain it better!)

I paid for express shipping and it was here in 3 working days (and a weekend inbetween OTL).

I ordered a steampunk corset and the ecru coloured one is the one for my waist training.

It'S actually quite heavy. And probably a few cm too big for me. Not in matters of waist size but I'm a small person and my torso is not that long. So the corset also pushes up my boobs. I look like I always wear a padded push up bra now.

Also, it smelled a bit like an oild refinery? But I checked with ups and it says, the corset came from India (although I ordered on an American site. I was a bit put back). And Simon explained that in India they had a different method of bleaching and I should not worry. Well...okay.

And this is the steampunk corset with a close up of the details. That's my second steampunk corset and I haven't even worn steampunk once in public. yikes.
I really do have to keep my fashion expenses at bay even though I have 200% more money than I did have a year ago. But I want to have everything of my fashion and steampunk is now in my collection. My fashion favourites are now as following: Hime Gyaru, Sweet Lolita, Classic Lolita, Shiro Lolita, Hime Kaji, Dirndl, Steampunk, 50s, 20s, Uniforms and a lot of historical period dresses including Josephine, Italien Renaissance, antic roman/greek fashion, Victorian.
Urgh. I still have to sew a lot. Starting with the basic undergown to the full dress. Including accessoires and sometimes the right wig.

But for now, this is a cosplay and gyaru fashion blog :)
