Brooches from Clothing tags

May 01, 2020

Hello lovelies,

isolation gave me some weird ideas, so bear with me for this one.

I keep clothing tags from various shops because most of them are pretty and I use them as book mark. I accumulated a lot of them over the past years and most of them did not see any book from the inside. So, what to do with them?
A month ago I bought UV resin just for fun and made a few pieces. They were super ugly and did not look like the amazing pieces I found at various lolita tea parties. But the idea hit me, why not try to put UV resin onto the tags and make brooches?
To my surprise, this really worked out well.

I poured UV resin over the tags, hardened them with my UV light, turned them and added a pin and it was done.

That is literally all. This was probably the easiest thing I did all year.

The wonder rocket tag had a hole on the right side. I closed it with a pearl, added some more and now it looks delibarate.

For this one, I had some black satin ribbon left and just made a cute rosette to go with it and a black&silver glitter drop.

Hit or miss?

  2. I love the idea! It seems like the perfect addition to those 'brand whore' prints.
I am curious about the UV resin though. Is there more than one type? The one I found looks like my epoxy glue but is it the one everyone else uses as well?
